Panjgur:
On 26 August 2021, Faisal and Basit were arrested and whisked away by the security forces during a raid on their family home in Parom, Panjgur, a family member confirmed.
The family has expressed serious concern over the safety of the disappeared members as many of their extended family members had fallen victim to enforced disappearance in the past with some extra-judicially executed following their disappearance.
This comes as another man Najeeb Baloch was subjected to enforced disappearance by the state security forces in Panjgur on 11 August 2021.
Yesterday, a man Ehsan Arjumandi was released after spending 12 years in illegal confinement in Pakistan.
Thousands of Baloch men, including children, have been forcibly disappeared by the Pakistani security forces since the early 2000s in an attempt to crush the Baloch people’s demand to exercise their right to self-determination.
Nearly in every single case of enforced disappearance in Balochistan, the whereabouts of victims are hidden and are not allowed access to lawyers or family members in clear violation of international law.
The absence of effective investigation and accountability has further incentivized the security forces of Pakistan to commit crimes against humanity in Balochistan without any fear of repercussions.
