London: [10/12/2023] In commemoration of Human Rights Day, the Baloch Human Rights Council (BHRC) convened a momentous conference at the Sindhi Centre in London. This gathering brought together esteemed scholars and representatives from various oppressed nations in Pakistan and Iran, providing a platform for them to highlight the severe human rights abuses perpetrated by oppressive regimes in these countries.
About Burzine Waghmar:
At the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), Burzine Waghmar is the Arts & Humanities Lead Librarian and holds affiliations with the Centre for the Study of Pakistan (CSP); Centre for Iranian Studies (CIS) and SOAS South Asia Institute (SSAI). He was formerly a Senior Teaching Fellow in Urdu, Pashto, Hindi and Gujarati at SOAS. A long-standing analyst of Baloch history, ethno-linguistic unrest, CPEC and human rights violations, his submissions have been presented at the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organisation (UNPO); Amnesty International; UN Human Rights Council (UNHCR); EU and UK Parliaments. He is also a commentator on BBC Radio 4, BBC News 24, TAG TV and other media outlets. Burzine’s scholarship on Balochistan complements his intimate knowledge of the dialects and ethnography of Indo-Iranian minorities on the Irano-Pak, Sino-Pak and Af-Pak borders (Balochistan, Trans-Karakoram Tract, Gilgit-Baltistan/Northern Areas, NWFP/Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, FATA).
