Lasbela:
Baloch Students Action Committee (BSAC) LUAWMS-Unit arranged its weekly educational meeting to discuss the role of students in the development of a Nation. Sadique Baloch, a member of the BSAC Uthal unit expressed his views on the subject matter.
He said the students play a vital role in the nation-building process. Students are the backbone of any nation as they are one of the major contributors to the social, economic and political advancement of a nation, he said.
It was discussed that students have historically been involved in the national struggle of the oppressed nations. They have championed the struggle for the educational, social and political rights of the oppressed nations, and have sacrificed much for the protection of their national languages and identity.
Sadique Baloch gave the example of the Bengali students who stood against the imposition of Urdu as their national language instead had to suffer and sacrifice their lives for the recognition of Bangla, their national language. It is because of their struggle and sacrifices for the protection of their language that 21st February is marked as the International Mother Language Day in recognition of their struggle and to promote linguistic and cultural diversity.
It was agreed that students must continue to work on their intellectual development to be able to contribute to the protection and development of their national rights and identity.
Finally, the discussion was followed by a questions and answers session.
