Quetta:
Six men are reported missing from various parts of Balochistan.
According to different media sources, Jan Baig Rind and Sultan Rind were arrested and whisked away by men in plainclothes three days ago in Dhadar. Another resident of Dhadar, Ghulam Mustafa, was forcibly disappeared on 5th March from Quetta, the capital city of Balochistan.
Three other men were subjected to enforced disappearance in the Nushki district of Balochistan. The victims have been identified as Riaz Badini, Changez Baloch, and Ijaz Baloch, as confirmed by the VBMP.
The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) has called on the state authorities to uphold their legal and constitutional obligations and ensure the victims of enforced disappearance are given the right to a fair trial and justice.
Enforced disappearances are common in Balochistan. Various political and human rights organizations based in Balochistan estimate the number of victims of enforced disappearance to be in the thousands.
Despite repeated assurances by the ruling state authorities in Pakistan to criminalize enforced disappearance, it remains an unresolved matter, affecting thousands of families in the country.
