WASHINGTON DC:
The Baloch American Congress (BAC) condemned the massacre of 11 Shia Hazara coal miners in Balochistan. “The heart-wrenching massacre of the Shia Hazaras, who were coal miners in Machh, outside Quetta, last week was a continuation of the Pakistan state policy of ethnic cleansing of minorities,” Dr Tara Chand, founder of the BAC said in a statement.
He said, “The Daesh or ISIS has claimed responsibility for the killings, but it is an open secret that terrorist death squads operate with impunity in Balochistan with their full support of Pakistan security and intelligence services.” Dr Tara Chand said the refusal of Pakistan premier Imran Khan to visit with the grieving families shows the utter lack of sympathy at the highest level of Pakistan government for the victims of state-sponsored terrorism such as the Hazaras and the Baloch.
Dr Tara Chand urged the US to focus more attention on Balochistan to stop the genocide of both the Hazara and Baloch people there, pointing out China is working hard to gain a foothold there. Balochistan is the resource rich and area wise largest southwestern province of Pakistan, strategically located on the Straits of Hormuz.
