WASHINGTON, DC:
The Baloch American Congress (BAC) has called the Iranian Revolutionary Guards killing of Baloch traders on the borders with Pakistan as a form of state terrorism aimed at economic genocide of the Baloch people. “The massacre of a dozen Baloch at the borders near Panjgur is the latest act of state terrorism by Iran against the Baloch populace,” Dr Tara Chand Baloch, president of BAC, said in a statement Wednesday.
“The victims were members of a highly respected Baloch family who live on both sides of the border between two deadly states, Iran and Pakistan,” he added.
Dr Tara Chand said there are zero opportunities for jobs for Baloch in Balochistan, whether their territory was under Iranian or Pakistani control, and families subsist through small-scale cross-border trade in petrol and diesel. “Iran’s killing of the Baloch in such dire circumstances is state terrorism aimed at economic genocide of the Baloch people,” he stressed.
He called upon the US and Western powers to join hands to stop Iran’s state terrorism against the Baloch people. Dr Tara Chand pointed that Pakistan has already turned Balochistan into a killing field and world capital of enforced disappearances. Once an independent nation, Balochistan was divided by the British in three parts— Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan.
