Karachi:
The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) today issued a detailed statement to the news media following a member of its self-sacrificing unit, Majeed Brigade, targeting Chinese employees in the Confucius Institute at the University of Karachi.
This comes as today the BLA’s fidayee exploded herself near a van carrying Chinese nationals inside the Karachi University campus. As a result of the explosion, three Chinese nationals including director of the Chinese-built Confucius Institute, which offers Chinese language graduate classes, and two teachers, got killed. Another Chinese national was reported injured.
The spokesperson for the BLA, Jeeyand Baloch, says this attack was to give a clear message to China that its direct or indirect presence in Balochistan will not be tolerated. He added that BLA has warned China several times to refrain from looting Baloch resources and aiding Pakistan militarily and financially in carrying out the Baloch genocide. However, China continues to be involved in its expansionist designs in Balochistan.
BLA further warned that hundreds of highly trained male and female members of its Majeed Brigade are ready to carry out deadly attacks in any part of Balochistan and Pakistan. We want to tell Pakistan to immediately stop the Baloch genocide, and peacefully withdraw from Balochistan, and if China does not stop its exploitative projects and refrain from aiding the Pakistani state’s in quelling the Baloch dissent, then BLA will continue to target the Chinese presence in the region, read the BLA statement.
According to the BLA statement, today’s attack on Chinese nationals was carried out by Majeed Brigade’s fidayee Shaari Baloch alias Bramsh, a 30-years-old mother of two minors with a postgraduate degree in Zoology. “BLA will always hold Shaari in the highest esteem for her sacrifice against the occupiers of Balochistan and the exploiters of its people,” it said.
The Pakistani authorities have condemned the attack on the Chinese nationals, calling it a direct attack on the Pakistan-China friendship and ongoing cooperation.
China’s embassy in Islamabad said, “all levels in Pakistan are requested to take practical and effective measures to do everything possible to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens, institutions and projects in Pakistan and ensure that similar incidents do not occur again.”
“The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan strongly condemned this terrorist act, and urges Pakistan to make every effort to treat the injured, conduct a thorough investigation into the attack and severely punish the perpetrators,” it said.
