Geneva:
Baloch Human Rights Council (BHRC) will be holding a protest demonstration in front of the United Nations building on 21 September 2022 during the 51st regular session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva.
A statement issued by BHRC read, “Pakistan has been committing gross human rights violations in Balochistan for many decades. Still, in recent months the cases of enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and the discovery of mutilated bodies of Baloch human rights defenders and socio-political activists have increased exponentially. According to verified data published by BHRC, from January 2022 to July 2022, 205 persons were subjected to enforced disappearance, and 58 bodies of extrajudicially killed forcibly disappeared persons were identified. Moreover, the bodies of another 58 missing persons recovered in Lahore were unrecognizable”.
To protest against these atrocities, BHRC will hold a protest demonstration at Broken Chair on 21 September 2022 at 12.30 pm.
BHRC will present a memorandum to UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr Volker Türk. The memorandum will demand that the UN establish a fact-finding mission to investigate the extrajudicial killings and mass disappearances of the Baloch political and social activists. BHRC will also request that the UN bring the perpetrators of the heinous crimes against humanity in Balochistan to justice by initiating cases against them in the international court of justice in The Hague, read the BHRC statement.
