WASHINGTON, DC:
The Baloch American Congress (BAC) has said the death of a former senator, Usman Kakar, has created a void in Balochistan politics that will not be easy to fill for years to come.
“We join millions of people in mourning the death of fearless Usman Kakar, who was a symbol of Baloch-Pashtun unity and a staunch defender of human rights of all people. His funeral gathering was the largest in Balochistan history and showed the amount of love and respect he enjoyed in the hearts of the common people,” BAC president Dr. Tara Chand said in a statement Wednesday.
He said the Baloch people were full of gratitude for the late leader for exposing the crimes against humanity being perpetrated by Pakistan’s army and intelligence services in Balochistan.
He commended tens of thousands of Baloch activists in different towns of Balochistan for showing solidarity with the late Pashtun leader by showering rose petals on his funeral convoy.
He said a thorough investigation was needed as the mysterious death of Usman Kakar has given rise to many questions and speculations.
“The late Usman Kakar used to speak out against the machinations of the Deep State in Pakistan in a way that few politicians dare to do so. In his last speech in the Pakistani Senate on March 11, he had put on record that Pakistan’s ISI and Military Intelligence should be held responsible if he or his family members come into harm’s way,” Dr. Tara Chand said, adding, “The late leader’s family and friends also insist he has been cunningly killed.”
