Quetta:
The Balochistan Home Department has withdrawn an FIR against medical students in Quetta and the detained students have been released, reported SAMAA TV
The students were arrested on Friday as they protested against the method used to conduct entrance exams by the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC), and demanded the PMC revise its exam method.
The protesting students had staged a peaceful sit-in protest outside the Governor House in support of their demands while authorities instead of reaching out to them, ordered the police to baton charge the students in an attempt to disperse them.
Members of various students organizations and political parties took to social media to denounce the provincial authorities, particularly the Quetta police for their excessive use of force against students who present no threat of violence.
