KHUZDAR/WADH: The Federal Interior Minister, Mr. Ahsan Iqbal, has said that the PML-N Government is seeking a lasting solution to the Balochistan problem and exploring avenues for the solution. He sought cooperation and help from the leaders of Balochistan in finding an amicable solution to the Balochistan problems.
Speaking at the inauguration of Khuzdar Campus and Sardar Bahadur Khan University and Wadh Campus of the University of Agriculture and Marine Science, today the Federal Minister sought a mechanism to solve the problem of Balochistan.
He deplored that natural gas was discovered in 1950s and Balochistan is still denied natural gas facility which is unjust and unfair.
The Federal Minister was of the opinion that if democracy continued and allowed to function, it would find a democratic solution to the Balochistan problem and the angry Baloch youth could be brought back to the political mainstream ending the Baloch conflict.
He said “we are also unhappy and disappointed as our Prime Minister too had been sent home and still we are trying its solution in functional democracy.”
Mr. Ahsan Iqbal defended the Gwadar Port agreement with the Chinese company arguing that it was the same old port agreement which was concluded with the Singapore Port Authority and there no changes in the accord with the Chinese company.
The Federal Minister called upon the people and parties to shun all their prejudices and hatred and try to find solution of all issues and they should move forward.
He announced that the PML Government is committed to develop all the Federating Units equally, economically and politically and there would be no discrimination. It is the policy of the PML-N Government in regard to equal economic development of the provinces, Mr. Ahsan Iqbal told the gatherings.
He advised the students to devote their energies on education and seeking knowledge which is a guarantee for social and economic guarantee for development. “ Quality education should be their target with which they should equip themselves and with this weapon no one can usurp their fundamental rights,” he told the students.
He deplored that certain forces are involved in conspiracies against Pakistan and the students and the people in general should frustrate the evil designs of their enemies.
He said he was fully aware about the grievances of the people as they were deprived of all the facilities and services. He said Gas was found in Sui and the people of Balochistan were deprived of the gas facility.
The Federal Minister for Interior had strongly resented the propaganda campaign on the media on Gwadar Port and CPEC terming them wrong and misleading.
He said Balochistan got priority in development projects and he specifically mentioned the huge allocation of funds for building roads, highways, educational institutions, mainly financing the Universities in a big way.
Mr. Ahsan Iqbal was of the view that there was no democracy or weak democratic institutions that made Balochistan and some other areas backward, poor and left far behind in the race of development.
He praised Sardar Akhtar Mengal for donating 100 acres of prime land for establishing the Wadh Campus of University of Agriculture and Marine Sciences.
Sardar Akhtar Mengal, an erstwhile Chief Minister of Balochistan and also BNP President in his speech said that Balochistan had been made a powder keg which can explode at any moment.
He said that the people are feeling insecure as Mosques, educational institutions, houses of the people are not safe as the law and order situation had deteriorated further.
The BNP President said that all the experiments conducted by the rulers since 1947 had miserably failed. “There is a need to sympathize with the angry Baloch Youth and they should not be repulsed or killed. The rulers should learn from the failures,” Sardar Akhtar Mengal said. The Government should demonstrate its large heartedness in deal with the angry Baloch people, the BNP President said.
He blamed the rulers for inflicting more injuries to the State of Pakistan due to their own follies. He was of the view that Balochistan is backward merely because the Baloch people are no sycophants and they are self respecting people. He said his Father Sardar Ataullah Mengal was jailed for 10 long years as he was no sycophant. “If your Government wants to jail me also, then I am ready,” Sardar Akhtar Mengal quipped.
When the Federal Minister arrived at the Khuzdar Airport, he was received by the PML-N workers of the area and they took him to the Circuit House. Vice-Chancellor of the Women University briefed the Federal Minister about the Khuzdar Campus of the University. A number of political leaders, political activists, civil and military officials were present at both the functions.
